Diamonds are a Racers Best Friend!
We use and endorse the Sunnen SK-10 with diamond tooling. This machine has torque feedback that shows the operator visually where the bore is tight or loose then automatically dwells in that spot until the bore is the correct size. We then control the cross hatch angle to give maximum oil retention with out consuming oil. After the cylinder is honed to with in a 1/2 of a thousandth of an inch the cylinder is then plateau brushed. Again using diamond brushes the 5-8 strokes remove the torn metal from the honing procedure ensuring the rings break in without excessive wear. We have documented proof this hone makes HP! We've done it time and time again.
